Calendar Of Events
The Brick Township Historical Society will sponsor a Fall Festival on October 7 (rain date Oct. 8) from 10 am to 2 pm at the Havens Homestead Museum property, 521 Herbertsville Rd., Brick. Besides the museum, the Lizzie Herbert House and the other buildings on the property will be open. There will be face painting, pumpkin painting, games for children, a “White Elephant” table, a display of vintage farm equipment and classic cars. The society will hold a bake sale including fall desserts inside the museum. Admission is free and donations are graciously accepted.

Program on THE DOUGHBOYS IN WORLD WAR II
At its November 14 meeting, the Brick Township Historical Society will host Jeff Brown, a history teacher at Southern Regional at the Herbertsville Firehouse at 7:30 pm. Brown will talk about the “Doughboys” and how they received that name. He will present little known historical facts about these fine soldiers and Marines who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during 1917 to 1918. The program is free and open to the public.

Our fall trip to Kykuit, the opulent Rockefeller estate in Tarrytown, NY will be Oct. 25. Call Jane at 732-458-7507 for details and for a reservation.
The Nov. 14 meeting, also at the Firehouse at 7:30 pm, will feature Jeff Brown, a teacher at Southern Regional, presenting a program on the “Doughboys” of World War I.
The year will end with our Christmas celebration Dec. 8 and 9. Both days the hours are 3 to 7 pm. Please consider volunteering to decorate and help with this important fundraiser.
The membership fee is due in January, but for your convenience, you can bring in your remittance to the Sept. or Nov. meetings or use Pay Pal through our website. Enclosed is a membership form. The museum is open beginning April 12th on Saturdays 10:00 to 12:00pm and Sundays by appointment. We are closed on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Labor Day.
